Slurs are an alternative-pop duo from Newcastle upon Tyne.

Mark Simpson (vocals & bass) and Fintan Dawson (guitar & vocals) emerged together in 2015 with their self-produced EP Northern Electric, which received airplay from BBC Introducing and Spark FM.

In May 2015, the Evening Chronicle described their sound as “[drawing] influences all the way from the melodic verses of The Housemartins and Elvis Costello through to the fuzzier riff-driven choruses of The Kills and Sonic Youth, to create their very own unique blend of upbeat, relatable, noisy pop music.

Slurs’ first single on Coastline Records, “Murder she Wrote” will be released on April 9 at the Big Gig.
